Another Man

That Gormley scene
in Crosby
slate grey water
blue Hills
waves blowing
across Wirral peninsula
rain and sudden light
rusted body
watching ships
wind on his face
sun on his head
stands dripping
spray spitting
around his nose
yellowed eyes
on Ireland, screams
“You’ve nailed me here
In the tide,
I’ve sung my song
I’ve played along
the tourists came
they dressed me up
it was all a stunt
I feel dead rough
Now get me out
I've 'ad enough.”
