Into the Light
The sixties caught us napping,
in our pink twin sets and pearls.
Monochrome to psychedelic,
flower power and op-art swirls.
We would ferry 'cross the Mersey
in our mini skirts and boots;
while the boys were smartly tailored,
with no collars on their suits.
Then we'd dance around our handbags
at the youth club Friday nights.
Tamla Motown and the Beatles
'neath fluorescent church hall lights.
